Elon Battles the EU
The battle between Elon Musk and the speech cartel took another turn early this week.
The European Commission, a branch of the EU, is targeting X for refusing to comply with its censorship demands.
On Monday, EU commissioner Thierry Breton announced that X was under investigation for violating the Digital Services Act.
Elon responded to Breton’s post, asking if X is the only social media platform under investigation.
The EU’s justification for its action against X is that the platform is allowing too much Hamas propaganda.
The Telegraph reported on the consequences of the EU’s investigation: “The opening of formal proceedings allows the EU to impose interim measures on X, such as changes to its algorithms or stricture monitoring of illegal content.”
Journalist Michael Shellenberger wrote that “It looks as though the EU and X are headed toward a head-on collision, with the EU demanding secret censorship by committees of ‘experts’ to decide what is true and not true.”
The investigation could force X to leave Europe, requiring Europeans to use a VPN to access the site.
The latest action by the EU is another piece of evidence that there is a distinct political agenda to target and harass Elon
While it’s plausible that his actions might justify scrutiny from one or two federal outfits, he has faced investigation from no less than seven agencies within the Biden administration, in addition to slew of frivolous lawsuits.
The fact that all this is going on while he fights for free speech is a a dead giveaway that his real crime is opposing the Orwellian government’s nefarious censorship schemes.
Despite the constant negative press and political assaults from above, 𝕏 continues to gain popularity with regular people.
Monday, research from Google trends and other SEO firms found that traffic at 𝕏 is up 22% in the last year. Over the weekend, Elon said some advertisers who’d participated in the most recent boycott are already returning, including Netflix.
The likely cause for X’s success is the same reason Elon has a target on his back: the site has grown its reputation for being the only place on the Internet where taboo topics are allowed to be discussed.
Truth is a force of nature, exerting a gravitational effect that draws people into its orbit. As long as open debate is permitted, 𝕏’s star will continue to rise. If it is shut down, free speech may never return.
Why do you think Elon has faced so many investigations this year? Will governments try to kill 𝕏?
Ye’s Back
Ye is back on 𝕏.
Last Wednesday, his account broke months of silence by posting a brief press release announcing the hiring of Gosha Rubchinskiy as the Head Designer of YEEZY brand.
The post also included a link to a mobile-only site called yews.news with a news digest.
Two days later, another post announced the release of YZY POD, a minimalistic sock-shoe with a thin rubber sole. The same day, a video of Ye speaking at a house party went mega viral.
Ye’s return to 𝕏 comes as anticipation builds for his forthcoming album Vultures.
The question hanging over Ye’s return to the spotlight is how the public will receive him in the wake of last year’s controversy, when called himself an anti-Semite, tweeted a picture of a swastika intertwined with a Star of David, and accused the Jewish community of turning a blind eye to Jewish music executives’ exploitation of black artists.
In a recent podcast, Joe Rogan addressed the topic, telling comedian Shane Gillis, “You gotta let him go out of line every now & again. That’s what makes him so brilliant. He’s got a tornado going on in his mind.”
Later, Rogan asked Gillis, “Can he come back like Bud Light?” in reference to the brand’s recent endorsement deal with UFC.
“It’s gonna take one album,” Gillis said. “I think everybody’s already back.”
Rogan joked in response, “Well, also, what better time to be mad at Jews?”
What do you think: Will Ye overcome last year’s cancelation? Will you listen to his new album?
Elon’s New School
Last Wednesday, Bloomberg reported that Elon plans to establish his own primary and secondary school in Austin, TX.
The school will feature a traditional curriculum combined with a focus on STEM and hands-on learning experiences. It’s initial funding is a $100M gift from Elon.
This isn’t Elon’s first venture in education. In 2014, he founded a private school called Ad Astra for employees of SpaceX and his own children.
Last year, he floated the idea starting his own university and calling it Texas Institute of Technology and Science, or T.I.T.S. At the time, he contemplated accepting tuition in Dogecoin.
Would you attend Elon’s school or enroll your children in it?
RFK’s Strange Turn
RFK Jr’s Presidential run has been a recurring topic of interest for this newsletter.
His candidacy has merited attention because no other presidential contender can match his bona fides on the topic of medical freedom. His mere presence in the race is the strongest repudiation of the Covid agenda in the political arena.
However, in recent weeks, his campaign has taken a bizarre and sometimes dark turn.
The earliest sign that something was amiss cropped up in mid-October: his campaign manager Dennis Kucinich resigned shortly after RFK announced he was leaving the Democratic Party to run as an Independent.
Kucinich was replaced by Kennedy’s daughter in law, Amaryllis Fox Kennedy, a former CIA agent.
The choice of Fox Kennedy was a headscrasther given that RFK has accused the CIA of involvement in his uncle’s assassination.
Around the same time as the change, in early October, Kennedy began to voice strong support for Israel’s military response to Hamas’s 10/7 terror attack, saying that the US should provide its ally with whatever resources it needs.
His statement came as a surprise to many of his supporters because it was a marked departure from his vocal opposition to American involvement in the war in Ukraine.
It’s also odd because Israel was one of the most authoritarian nations in the world during Covid on the topic of medical freedom.
The country implemented a digital “Green Pass” vaccine passport system that was used to create a two-tiered society.
Despite his otherwise staunch opposition to the military-industrial complex and medical tyranny, Kennedy has continued to advocate for sending US arms Israel.
In November, he reiterated his stance from October, telling podcaster Dave Rubin, “It's like having an aircraft carrier in the Middle East…If Israel disappears, Russia, China and the BRICS+ countries will control 90% of the world's oil, and this will be a disaster.”
Things got even stranger when, earlier this month, Kennedy spoke with Fox’s Jesse Watters about a report that he had flown on Jeffrey Epstein’s private jet twice. Afterwards, Kennedy posted the clip to 𝕏 and called for the release of the Epstein Client List.
Two days later, the New York Post published a “newly revealed” 1994 photo of Kennedy, his second wife Mary Richardson, and Epstein chatting at The Pierre hotel in New York City.
Richardson committed suicide in 2012. Kennedy explained his presence on Epstein’s plane as a function of his ex-wife’s relationship Epstein’s madame and convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell.
The friendship between Richardson and Maxwell might be benign. Or not.
Ghislaine Maxwell’s father, Robert, was a British media tycoon who, among other things, purchased significant influence over American textbook companies and scientific journals. In 1989, he acquired textbook giant McGraw-Hill.
In 1991, Maxwell died of a suspicious suicide in which he fell off his private yacht and drowned in the Canary Islands. His funeral was held in Israel, where at least at least six former and serving heads of Israeli intelligence attended. Israeli PM Yitzhak Shamir eulogized him, “He has done more for Israel than can today be told.”
In 2020, Israel Mossad agent Ari Ben Menashe connected the dots in an interview with RT, claiming that Robert Maxwell worked as a spy for Israel’s Mossad. Menashe also said Maxwell introduced his daughter Ghislaine to Jeffrey Epstein.
Interestingly, Kennedy also appears in Epstein’s little black book under an entry that read “Kennedy, Bobby & Mary.”
The book contains nearly 2000 names, including several VIPs in finance and entertainment.
At this point, it’s not clear how involved Richardson was with the Maxwell family, or to what extent that friendship extended to Kennedy beyond the two flights on Epstein’s jet.
However, after the recent revelations, it’s undeniable that Kennedy’s relationship with Israel is under the microscope. The question on everyone’s mind is: does Israeli intelligence have something compromising on Kennedy?
Last week, the issue blew up even more when Kennedy went viral for a heated exchange with online journalist Krystal Ball about Israel and Palestine.
During the exchange, Kennedy argued that Israel has treated Palestinians well, and said, “the Palestinian people are arguably the most pampered people by international aid organizations in the history of the world.”
The comment kept Kennedy trending for days as various anti-war activists denounced his campaign.
Coming to Kennedy’s defense were Jewish leaders Bill Ackman and Rabbi Schmuley Boteach, both vocal Zionists.
Ackman is leading the donor revolt against Ivy League Universities for their tolerance of anti-Semitism (he also has a connection to Epstein through his wife).
Boteach is a popular rabbi known for his best-selling book Kosher Sex and the reality-TV series Shalom in the Home. He has backed Kennedy’s campaign since Kennedy weathered accusations of anti-Semitism earlier this year for pointing out that Covid has varying mortality rates for different ethnicities, to the evident benefit of Ashkenzi Jews, Chinese, and other groups. He also denied flying to Epstein’s private island in a recent televised exchange.
Boteach said Kennedy’s exchange with Krystal Ball was “the single greatest defense of Israel on video since the start of the war.”
While the Kennedy situation stewed, Epstein popped into the news twice more this week.
On Monday, the Wall Street Journal published a previously unreleased photo of Bill Gates with a Polish model from 2014.
The model, who went on to accuse Epstein of trying to set her up as the mistress for one of his friends, has also been pictured with Woody Allen and CBS journalist Charlie Rose. Her face is obscured in photos with Gates and Allen.
Then yesterday, The Daily Mail reported that Judge Loretta Preska ordered the unsealing of more than 170 Epstein associates, including his “friends, recruiters, victims and others.”
Preska ordered the unsealing to take place within 14 days, meaning the list should be released on January 2nd or earlier.
The news provoked a variety of reactions on social media. If the past is any guide, justice for the Epstein situation is unlikely to come from the legal system.
What do you think: Is Kennedy’s support for Israel consistent with the rest of his campaign? Why does Epstein keep popping into the news?
Colorado Boots Trump
Last night, news broke that the Colorado Supreme Court had ruled Donald Trump was ineligible to participate in next year’s Presidential race.
The 4-3 decision cited the 14th Amendment, which disqualifies from office anyone who participates in insurrection or rebellion against the United States.
Trump’s campaign issued a response calling the ruling “a completely flawed decision” and said it would appeal with the US Supreme Court.
In a campaign rally last night, Trump accused his opponents of “weaponizing law enforcement for high-level election interference because we’re beating them so badly in the polls.”
Recent polling data aligns with Trump’s narrative. In a major Bloomberg poll released last Thursday, Trump led Biden in seven critical swing states. Mainstream polling typically undercounts Trump’s level of support.
On 𝕏, the news of the Colorado court’s decision was greeted with skepticism.
At the same time, Trump’s campaign has drawn strength from the perception that he is being persecuted by the Deep State.
Each of his four indictments has appeared to give him a boost in the polls and further galvanized his supporters, who see him as an outsider taking on a corrupt political establishment.
Whatever the case may be, it’d be better for next election to be decided at the ballot box rather than in the court room.
If Trump loses the election based on the actions of judges, district attorneys, or the DOJ, it will intensify the perception among his supporters that the system is rigged against him, and by extension them, further driving a wedge into an already divided country.
What do you think: should Trump be allowed to participate in the 2024 election? Are the legal challenges to his campaign a sign of corruption on the part of Trump or his opponents?
