Hey everyone,
Everyone in crypto has heard the infectious rallying cry, “Dogecoin to the moon!”
But did you know that there’s a plan to put a real physical Dogecoin on the moon itself?
Let’s take a look at how an actual Dogecoin could be on its way to the moon before year’s end!

A Dogecoin on the Moon
Last week, the official Dogecoin account announced that a physical Dogecoin is being sent to the moon.
The mission, funded in 2015 by the Dogecoin community, is planned to launch on December 23rd from Cape Canaveral, FL.
The Dogecoin is being sent as part of a mission with Astrobotic, a Pittsburg-based space company with a fleet of lunar landers and rovers.
Astrobotic’s moon lander for the mission is called Peregrine 1, which will travel on a Vulcan Centaur rocket made by the United Launch Alliance.
After the Vulcan rocket exist the earth’s atmosphere, the Peregrine lander will separate, power on, and cruise toward the moon.
Using its own propulsion system and a variety of sensors, it will make its way toward at Sinus Viscositatis—the Bay of Stickiness.
Several clients are sending lunar cargo on the mission. The Dogecoin will travel on a DHL MoonBox along with other moon-bound artifacts.
The space race to become the first cryptocurrency on the moon contains an element of friendly competition: two of Astrobotic’s other clients are linked to Bitcoin
BitMex will also send a physical Bitcoin on the Astrobotic lander, and Bitcoin Magazine is including a physical representation of the first block of Bitcoin ever mined.
Interestingly, the Astrobotic news appears to be unrelated to Elon’s 2021 tweet that SpaceX will “put a literal Dogecoin on the literal moon.”
It’s also not connected to the Doge-1 satellite involving SpaceX, whose launch is scheduled for January 2024.
Elon hasn’t commented on the recent news, but there’s little doubt he’ll be watching.
The news is another example of the power of the Dogecoin community, which in the past has funded Jamaica’s bobsled team, water wells in Kenya, and most recently a bronze statue in Japan in honor of Kabosu, the original Doge.
The latest stunt may go down as the Doge community’s most audacious yet. Outer space is vast, but it could soon be filled with Dogecoins!
